He spoke quickly, quietly and mildly. Although short in length, Rocky’s words were like a window into his kind, gentle spirit. After being shuffled in and out of foster care and in different homes, he finally found roots at MountainView. In his own description, “Growing up in foster care was challenging, but I realize some children come from terrible situations within their biological families. I lived with two other groups before MountainView. They were nice but did not provide the opportunities that the youth home does. I have been at MountainView for about a year now and I’ve already learned to become more responsible, to be accountable for my actions, and that hard work and setting examples for others provides me an opportunity to excel. The staff at MountainView has treated my like one of their own and that really makes me feel I have a home, a family. If I need anything all I have to do is ask, and it’s done. I realize that the Sheriffs and supporters help make that happen. There are many things that compete for their time, but they take the time to support us. I am so grateful for everyone who helps support us because they make it possible for us, the youth, to experience the joy of a family, gain confidence, and learn how to develop hope for the future.”
