After my father kicked me out, I was lost, hurt, and alone—wondering if my life had purpose. In my darkest moments, I held on to Psalm 34:18, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” I didn’t understand it then, but God was already guiding my steps toward the Pineland.
Pineland became so much more than a youth home to me. They provided safety, stability, and a sense of belonging. For the first time, I truly felt protected and cared for. I was able to participate in football and wrestling at school, building confidence and friendships along the way. Pineland ensured I received dental care and taught me the true meaning of security.
But the greatest blessing I experienced here was spiritual renewal. At Pineland, I chose to give my life fully to Jesus Christ and was baptized, symbolizing the new life I found in Him. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Through all the adventures, from movie nights and fishing trips to festival rides, I found brothers who became my family. Psalm 68:6 says, “God sets the lonely in families,” and this verse came alive for me at Pineland.
Today, as I prepare to attend Brewton-Parker College, I carry with me lasting friendships, a supportive girlfriend, and a bright future shaped by those who invested in me at Pineland. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds me daily: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
